Directions for Reading Responses
·
Read
for 20 minutes every day. Be sure to
choose a mix of fiction and nonfiction books.
You can also read magazine or newspaper articles!
·
Choose
a Reading Response Activity from the back of this page. Make sure you know if your book is fiction or
nonfiction!
·
You
may use the same book for more than one Reading Response. Since you are probably reading chapter books,
it might take a while to finish one book.
·
Please
write each Reading Response on a piece of loose leaf.
·
Each
Reading Response should be 10 or more sentences.
·
Reading
Responses should include 2 or more details from the book.
·
Anything
you write about should include reasons WHY.
For example, don’t just tell what happens in your favorite part, also
tell WHY it was your favorite part.
·
A great Reading Response involves making
a connection between what you read and something in your life. You can make a connection to something that
happened to you, something you read about in another book, something you saw in
a movie, or something that happened to someone you know.
Format for Reading Responses
The following should be at the top of the page (under
your school heading) for each Reading Response.
